QUICK SETUP GUIDE:
1) Click the Download link above to install Tribes Monitor
2) Start Tribes Monitor by clicking the shortcut on your desktop or start menu
3) Click the File menu, then Options. Fill out the fields as indicated below:
  • In the Hostname/Address box, type the domain name or IP address that you use to FTP into your site. Example: yourdomain.com
  • In the Username box, type your ftp username
  • In the Password box, type your ftp password
  • In the Directory to u/l to box, type the folder name (on your website) that contains the file you want to update. Don't specify the filename, just the directory. Example: /web/gamestatus/
  • In the Filename box, type the name of the file that you want created/updated on your website. This file will contain the status of the window(s) you want to monitor. Example: status.txt

  • In the Window name(s) to monitor box, type the name of the program you'd like to monitor, as it appears in your Task Bar. Example: Tribes. You can monitor more than one window -- add as many as you want, separated by semicolons. Example: Tribes;Solitaire;Minesweeper
  • In the Text when window(s) running box, type what you want your website's text file to contain when one of the programs you're monitoring is running. Example: I am playing %game Note: When your text file is uploaded, %game will get auto-replaced with the name of the monitored window which is open.
  • In the Text when window(s) closed box, type what you want your website's text file to contain when none of the programs you're monitoring are open. Example: I'm too bored to play games
  • In the Text when this prog exits box, type what you want your website's text file to contain when you shut down Tribes Monitor (because it will update the text file when you close it) Example: Game Monitor is off

    Note: In the bottom three (Text when...) boxes, you can use the optional variable %date. When your text file is uploaded, %date will get replaced with the current date & time.
