The MacPhersons

Crest  of the Clan Chattan Confederacy

The saying "Touch not the Cat But a Glove", means in it's original Gaelic sense, don't touch a wild cat when it's claws are out - i.e. when it is "ungloved". Or the Macphersons either, for that matter, when they are angry or on the warpath.
As of yet, it is not known exactly where my Macpherson ancestors came from. Family records say John MacPherson Sr. was "believed to have been from Badenoch". This is entirely possible, since Badenoch is located on the Scottish Mainland in the center of MacPherson territory.
My first documented ancestor, John MacPherson Sr. was born c1758, and died April 30 1832 age 74 years. He is buried in the Belle Creek Pioneer Cemetery, marker # 7, PEI. On his tombstone, it says he was "A Native of NB". (North Britain)
He married Anne Matheson who was born c1759 Uig Parish, Isle of Skye, and died Oct 28 1849 age 90 years. It is not known when they married, or when Anne arrived from Skye.
John MacPherson Sr. and Anne Matheson had children probably among others:

A.John MacPherson Jr. b. c1802 m. Mary Currie b. c1802 Isle of Mull. For their family follow this link.

B.Donald MacPherson m. Margaret Macmillan with 8 children.

C.Flora MacPherson m. Findlay Dockerty.

D.Euphemia MacPherson m. Donald M'dougall.

E.Rebecca MacPherson married as his first wife, Big Alexander Stewart of Belle Creek PEI. He was s/o Angus Stewart and Anne Nancy Macmillan emigrants from Portree Skye. They had 8 children.

F.Christina MacPherson married as his 2nd wife Big Alexander Stewart of Belle Creek PEI. They had 14 children.

F. Alexander MacPherson.
