Family tradition passed down, says that the Love
family Originally came from Inverness Scotland, and way back when, did
some favour for the King of England. Consequently, he granted them some
land in Southern Ireland. Evidently this land was an "Entailment" i.e.
it was to be passed down to the eldest son, and our ancestor was not the
eldest son, but one of the younger sons.
The Scottish part of this story is most likely true,
since Loves in Scotland, are a member of the Scottish Clan Mackinnon. They
are descended from Fingon, grandson of Gregor, son of Kenneth MacAlpin,
King of the Scots.
To add more weight to the English side of the family
story, this makes sense as well, since our Love family remained firmly
in the Church of England when they were in Ireland. Anne Jermaine's name
is of English origin as well. This name is variously spelled Jermyn, German,
Germaine.
George Love Sr. was born in 1809 in Ireland and
