1783 MACLEOD, WILLIAM SAIGHDEAR, born 1783 in Skye, known as Ulliam
Sceighdear or William Sr., son of Malcolm Macleod of Glasphein Staffin
Skye, and his wife Euphemia Macdonald, emigrated in 1831 with his family
to Uigg and Lorne Valley PEI. with siblings; christina b. c1780, william
saighdear b. 1783, anne, angus mor b. 1796, malcolm, donald, catherine
sr, catherine jr., william b. c1800, john, mary. He died 1850 and is buried
in the Belfast churchyard. He was a sergeant in the 42nd Highlanders, the
Black Watch. He enlisted when 16 yrs of age and continued with the colors
for 21 years, when he was honorabley discharged with several medals and
a pension. He fought and was wounded at Corunna and also Waterloo. He stood
6 ft 3" tall. After returning from the wars he m. CATHERINE MACPHERSON
who emigrated from Skye to Uigg in 1831. Ch;

to join his older brother John who had already emigrated to Point Prim
PEI. He married MARY LAMONT with children.

They lived in Port Elgin
NB where he was a blacksmith. They had children.
