The Family and Descendants of Murdoch Lamont and Catherine Stewart
of Prince Edward Island.
MURDOCH LAMONT was born circa 1822 in Bernisdale, Lyndale, Isle of Skye.
He was son of Unknown, son of Murdoch Buie Lamont of the Lamonts of Valtos
Skye. It is not known who his mother was. He died Sept 17, 1902 in Springton
PEI. He was noted March 1855 in New Bedeque Road, Lot 22, PEI. Murdoch
was a Mason and Farmer, also Clerk of the Commissioner's Court and Commissioner
of Roads/Bridges for 10 years in PEI.
Murdoch emigrated with his uncle Malcolm Lamont
to PEI on the Mary Kennedy in 1829. He was married by Reverend William
Snodgrass, on March 1, 1855 in Ch'town, to CATHERINE STEWART born
c1834, died Oct 14, 1914 in Springton PEI. Murdoch and Catherine had children;
A.EWEN ALEXANDER LAMONT born May 20 1856, married on Oct 1 1879 in Springton
PEI, Christina Mackinnon born c1860 with children;

C.DONALD LAMONT born Dec 23 1858 died June 10, 1934 in Springton PEI.
He married on Nov 23 1887, Christina Anne Matheson in Strathalbyn
PEI. She died June 10, 1932 in Ch'town PEI. They had lived on Lot 67, Junction
Road PeI with children;

a Cpl in the 26th Battalion
CEF 1914. with children;

D.PETER LAMONT born june 8, 1864, died Aug 13, 1892 in Springton PEI.
On Nov 10 1886, he married Sarah Nicholson.
E.CHRISTINA LAMONT born jan 30 1861 died oct 17 1923 married on March
30 1882, in New London PEI, James Andrew Campbell born June 5 1858
Grahams Road PEI, died July 6 1922. Christina was a school teacher, taught
at Tignish 1879-1880 and Grahams Road 1880-1881. James was a Farmer with
190 acres, mixed farming and dairy. With children;

(Sherren). He added the name Lamont to his name in later
years. A native of Grahams
Road, PEI, he was a long time contributor to the columns of the
Guardian under the name
"John of the Lilacs." He published a volume of poetry c1950. He
served for 6 years in WWI,
then went to Regina and Vancouver, B.C.
8. Hugh Archibald Campbell b. feb 21 1896 Grahams
Road PEI, died may 25 1956, buried
New London Cemetery. He
m. Jessie Catherine Mackay b. july 16 1897 died may 5 1966.
Hugh was a long distance
runner for 3 consecutive years, was a School Superintendant and
Church Elder.
F.CATHERINE JANE LAMONT born Oct 3, 1862, on Jan 2, 1886 married David
Theodore or Theophillius Mutch in Strathalbyn, PEI.
