John Lamont was born in Skye circa 1810, son of Malcolm Lamont and Isabella Macdonald who emigrated on the Mary Kennedy in 1829 to Uigg PEI. John married first Euphemia Macleod, they had one son who died young. He married 2ndly, Sarah Lamont of Murray Harbour Road and Grandview, PEI, d/o John Lamont and Euphemia Macleod. Sometime after 1852 or so, her family moved to Ripley, Bruce Co Ontario, and John and Sarah went with them. John and Sarah settled in Turnberry Twp, Ontario. They had children;

A.Margaret Lamont married J. Taggart of Michigan with 8 children.

B.Euphemia Lamont married J. Taylor, London Ontario with 6 children.

C.Malcolm Lamont, sometime mayor of Ontario. He was the author of "Bush Days in Ontario", an account of the day to day activities involved in carrying out farming on the frontier. He married ? with children;
    1.George Lamont of Port Elgin Ontario.
    2.Pearl Lamont married Reverend Mr. Fitch of USA.
    3.Mae Lamont married Norman McCannion, of Toronto Ontario.

*Patricia Lamont Schwenke, Professor and Chair, Dept of Education, Carroll College, Wakesha, Wisconsin, USA is also a descendant of this John and Sarah Lamont.

D.Sarah Lamont died without issue.

E.Angus Lamont died Port Arthur in 1921. Twice married with 3 children.

F. Elizabeth Lamont, a nurse, lived in Winnipeg, later in London Ontario.

G.John Lamont M.D. lived Nopeming, Minnesota, married with 3 children.

H.Caroline Lamont married A. L. Hamilton, of Windsor Ontario with 3 children.

I.Catherine Lamont married Reverend J. W. Macnamara of Toronto with 3 children.
