                        THE FAMILY OF HUGH GILLIS AND ANNE NICHOLSON

 Anne Nicholson b. c1780 Isle of Skye, was the daughter of Old Donald Nichlson and Catherine Macarthur. She married on Skye, Hugh Gillis born c1755 Skye, (he was probable brother or cousin of John Gillis of Orwell Cove, 1803 emigrant) Hugh Gillis died on Skye sometime before 1819, and his widow Anne Nicholson emigrated to PEI in 1819 with her grown children. Possibly they came on the “Morning Star, one source says this was the only ship to have come from Scotland to Ch’town in 1819. It docked in Ch’town on Sept 2 1819 with 200 passengers. Anne Nicholson died feb 1845 in PEI and is buried in the St. John’s Presbyterian churchyard. Children of Hugh Gillis and Anne Nicholson;

Findlay was s/o Donald Macdonald died 1847, and Catherine Maclennan b. 1790. Donald came to Ontario Canada in 1847, but died enroute. Findlay married first, Isabella Macbain b. 1839 died may 12 1867. They moved to the USA with children;
