The Family and Descendants of Findlay Macdonald and Jessie Mackinnon of Mull and Point Prim Prince Edward Island.
Findlay Macdonald, born c1750 on the Isle of Mull, buried in the Polly Cemetery Mt. Buchanan PEI,   married Jessie Mackinnon also of Mull, and emigrated on the Dykes in 1803 to Point Prim Prince Edward Island, where his name is recorded as one of the lighthouse keepers there.

THIS PEDIGREE FOLLOWING WAS COMPILED IN 1937 by Margaret (nee Murchison) Finlayson and given to me in 2003 by Allister Fred Macdonald and his wife Martha Ellen Macdonald of Atkinson NH   email MacDNH@aol.com

"In Selkirk's diary are the following references and they are probably to Hector Macdonald, son of Findlay Macdonald and his wife Jessie Mackinnon of the island of Mull Scotland. When the Dykes was near PEI he wrote:
Aug. 8, 1803, "I tookthe boat and went on shore (with Mr. Shaw--Cameron and the two Macdonalds)when the vessel was near Wood Island"
And on Saturday Aug13, he records:
"Supped at Dr. McAulay's tent, and went up to lodge in Jo.Mcdonalds to which some of my own camp beds had been taken"
On Monday Aug 15, he records:
"Before leaving the settlement to go to Charlottetown, towofthe Camerons and twoothers of the Mull party being there I desired John Mcdonald to go down with them and to point out to themthe half clear spot in Pinette Point..All the passengers on the Dykes seemed joined in this resolution..except Hector Macdonald, who stood out and declared his resolution of settling with me even though his brother in law John had gone with the rest to Canada I did not perceive any reason for Hector Macdonald's being more steady than the rest, if it were not his confidence in me individually, and as an encouragement in return, I agreed to let him have the 200 acres he wanted paying only 1/4 down, the rest in installments..this will leave himabout 20 guineas cash to set him up and I think he will do well."
