Malcolm Currie and Marion MacEachern

Malcolm Currie and Marion MacEachern

    Malcolm Currie was born in 1774 on the Isle Mull. He died May 1, 1864 at the age of 90 years, and is buried in the Little Sands Cemtery of PEI, lot 64, Cemetary No. 5, Stone #148, alongside his wife. For the origins of the Curries in the Hebrides, see Curries.
    Malcolm married Marion MacEachern of the Isle of Mull or Colonsay. Marion was some kind of relative to Bishop Angus Maceachern, because when the Currie family arrived on PEI, he presented them with a gift of a cow. Note that sometimes her name is given as "Sarah", and sometimes as "Marion". (These two names appeared to be interchangable in those days - perhaps because the Gaelic form of Sarah was "Morag") Although Bisphop McEachern was Catholic, I belive Malcolm and Sarah were prodestants.
    Malcolm and Marion lived on both Colonsay and Mull, and had children born on both islands before they emigrated to Prince Edward Island circa 1820 (Perhaps they came in 1819 on the ship "Economy") The family settled in the Little Sands district.  Malcolm and Marion had children;

1.Mary Currie born c1802 on Colonsay,  but raised on Mull, married John Macpherson Jr. emigrated to Prince Edward Island.

2.Angus Currie baptized at Kilfinichen and Kilvickeon Isle of Mull Feb 5, 1811, emigrated to Prince Edward Island. He is the one who inherited the homestead at Little Sands years later (see Meachams Atlas lot 64, page 131) Angus son John later got the place, but he abandoned it and left for the mines in Montana. The old house burned about 60 years or more ago, and all that is left is the cellar hole and a wall. Angus died 8 April 1901 in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He married (1) Ellen Wall. He married (2) Catherine Buchanan.More children of Angus Currie and Catherine Buchanan are:
